NC Mess

The NC Supreme Court (all Republicans, the Democrat on the court did not participate) has ruled that the 11,300 provisional ballots in the state that were cast outside the correct precinct but in the correct county were to be thrown out for state races.  A large majority of these vote are Democratic. It did not matter to the court that early voting was out of the precinct. 1. the State Schools Superintendent race has a Democrat leading by 8500 votes so this race may change 2. Some local races such as the County Commission in Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) could also change as 2 Democrats there won by small majorities due to these ballots being properly counted. They have already been sworn into office.
The Speaker of the NC House says this was not the intent of the law that the legislature had passed.
So the State School Superintendent position is still up in the air, almost a month after the rest of the Council of State have been sworn in. AND others like the Mecklenburg County Commissioners that have already been sworn in and serving could be thrown out!
What a mess!! And I have not seen any national exposure to this.
